What are the main reasons for the mechanical properties of the propeller?

1. Improper control of zinc equivalent or aluminum equivalent in alloy

Zinc equivalent or aluminum equivalent in propeller alloy has great influence on mechanical properties, and its strength increases with the increase of zinc equivalent and aluminum equivalent, and the elongation decreases with the increase of zinc equivalent and aluminum equivalent.

Zinc equivalent or aluminum equivalent is essentially the representation of alloy composition. Therefore, during smelting, strengthening elements such as zinc and aluminum in brass, improper control of aluminum and manganese in bronze, too high and too low lead to zinc equivalent and aluminum equivalent. Because of the lack of operation experience, the boiling time of zinc in smelting is not controlled well, so that the zinc equivalent is low and the strength is unqualified. The strength is lower than the standard 20MPa. When the aluminum is too high, the boiling time of zinc is short and the zinc equivalent is too high, the elongation will not be qualified.

2, the iron content in the alloy is high

Iron is an enhanced element in the propeller alloy to improve the properties of the alloy, which can refine the grain. However, iron is not conducive to the side of the alloy, often ignored by people. Especially when the iron content is too high, the harmful characteristics of iron will be prominent. During the crystallization process, the iron will be agglomerated and enriched. When testing the performance, the tensile fracture will produce intergranular fracture along the enrichment area of these iron, which will cause cracks in the bending test of the sample. And some repeated tests are repeated, and there are still cracks, which will cause damage to the sea. At the same time, it will also cause the unqualified extension rate. This situation is also confirmed by the flat fracture of the field test bar.
